12.2005 - 01.2006 >> Transformable Retro Cab...

12.2005 > Building time, at the Fine Arts School (Rennes, France), from plans
I had realize few weeks before.

Materials > wood (mdf), glue, lots of screws,
2 sections of cardboard tubes...

01.2006 > In my flat, on "working" position...
My computer screen has 2 entries so I can plug both computer and xbox
at the same time ! I use the x2vga+ adaptator for my xbox to work on it.
("Gaming" position viewable this way !! >>> )

I used to work on a 15" laptop,
and it's much more confortable working on my 20" screen !

Transformation > the panel is entirely removable, simply
(and efficiently) wedged between inner sides.

Panel number 2 > I'm using a pcb found in a Soul Calibur 2
arcade stick. It is the US version, very ugly with horrible buttons,
but it has a turbo mode and can emulate analog control (very
usefull for such games as Prince of Persia).

Here is the "Gaming" mode !!
All the pleasure of retro-gaming thanks to Xbox Mame !
I switched the originals buttons and stick with Sanwa parts, the same as
in Japanese cabs. For other functions I use eco-pushbuttons.

Crazy details > I couldn't prevent myself from hacking all the
power controls and grouping them on the front of the machine...
Here we have a sector light and switch, xbox power , xbox ejection,
computer power, and sound power controls.

You can see here the unusual mini-jack plug on the front of my
xbox (right), in order to build a remote control of it.
The same plug exists on the backside of my computer...
Underneath, I thought it would be easier to take out my laptop
if the board could swing round.
